Born to Fight...

For some of us, the moment we set feet upon this earth a war of epic proportions begins; an enemy who KNOWS the change you may accomplish, a light in the darkness you may become.
'You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you."
Psalm 139
We are seen...truly seen, loved without condition or regret. Only LOVE; the type of love that covers a multitude of sins.
Where else? Where else will we find such peace, offered so freely?
What a comfort to know that no matter what I may feel about my worth, there is one who has no doubts; only compassion, only grace and a fathomless well of mercy.
No matter the age it begins, within our utmost beings we are aware of supernatural and natural alike. Hyper-alert, hyper-vigilant to any and every threat, of which there were many.
It is understood, at an age of understanding without question, an innocence still pocketed within his or her young minds, that God exsists.
An awareness of an unexplainable comforting presence; a whisper here, an errant breeze to soothe hot tears there, a sleepy childish conversation.
Maturity sets in and with it, a loss of innocence. With it, a deepening of that spiritual relationship that now has a name; God the Father who sent his only son, Jesus, to die for us and in doing so, released the Holy Spirit to comfort, to guide, to BE with.
From battles within family dynamics, to battles outside our family...survive one battle, to then be thrust within another, and another, and so the story goes.
Spiritual and natural battles fought and lost, fought and won, with ground gained.
As I sit and put ideas upon the screen, it occurs to me that it all sounds like prologue to a marvel movie script. High on drama and fantastical creatures and beasts to strike fear within heart and mind. A Heavenly, otherworldly creator watching as so many of these beings fashioned in HIS image, turn their backs with hatred, with dismissal, with cruelty.
An enemy lurking in the wings, ready to pounce and drag down to depths of Hell and Consequence. A Fallen Angel, once beloved, working overtime to steal away as many souls as he possibly can.
To aid in his mission, he enlists other lesser fallen angels to do his dirty work. The Original Puppet Master working the strings to his evil beasts.
Laws of the Universe, of man and beast, placed upon the Fallen Beloved, and with all things balanced, upon the Creator himself.
Free Will....not to be messed with, ever.
And so what we can see with naked eye holds only three dimensions, the fourth? A plane only heavenly (and former heavenly) bodies may inhabit.
Oh, one may scoff and say 'God CAN intervene, He just chooses not to.'
Supposing He did intervene directly, what then my friends? He would open each person on earth to direct contact with the Fallen and his delightful interventions.
Yin and Yang...Light and Dark...
Balance...
And so the battle begins, for some it is lifelong.
And so I find myself choosing my Creator...
And so I find myself yearning for more while yet asking for an end to battles.
I call on God and His angels to whisper peace, to bring only love and peace in this direction.
A fresh wind carrying more in kindness and compassion, less of judgement and chaos.
It has been some years of coming up against abuse, against rage and madness, against manipulation and control, against domination, against casual and explicit cruelty.
And I am tired my friends...exhausted, butt dragging along somewhere behind as I am tasked once again with confronting rage, with exposing darkness, with giving no life to their cruelty.
For many, this may present itself as a walk-in-the-park...regular life norm for most.
I wonder if at every turn you come in contact with narcissism, mental health disorders, and abuse? Work? Family? Friends? All of the above?
If so, I admire you. I admire the ability to walk through life without heaviness, without heart strings being snipped on the regular.
Dear friends, this morning I struggle mightily to put thought to paper, clearly understandable and coherent.
Thoughts divulged in love, with hope for understanding not pity.
With hope for new eyes for those climbing free of the pit. To give understanding to mind sitting behind eyes that have seen far too much, to ears that have heard evil in the darkest of ways, and sought God and His light.
The fight is not our own...
We do not fight alone...
The battles belong to God, and here is where we find peace, here is where we find solace and safety.
Born to Fight...fightin' Irish, Scottish warriors, and quintessential English stiff upper lip all coalescing due to courage of ancestors who chose life.
"Every man dies, not every man really lives." — William Wallace.
May God lead and direct your path today and each day to come; may peace encompass you and grace blanket heart and mind.
