Justice will be Served...Cold

It may be next month...it may be a year from the day I ran in fear for my life...however, justice will be served. The saying...'revenge is a dish best served cold,' could not be more accurate when describing our legal justice system...the courts, the police, the crown prosecutors, all a grinding wooden wheel inexorably inching its way to the end goal.

If ever you are interested in seeing just how small, how tiny a speck you are in the eye of the unforgiving system, just sit in a courtroom for a day and observe how carelessly a case is adjourned to a later date. They do not assign procrastination to what looks like a daily occurrence, but I would do just that. Oh names are called but by and by you are just a number, a case file with a lot of mumbo jumbo jargon, anachronisms, abbreviations and acronyms. From the grandparents taking on the responsibility of a 4 month old grandson to the domestic violence/sharing of custody case between mother and a man with two tear drops underneath one eye...brief, concise and a decidedly hurried and harried young Judge made his merry way through case file after case file leaving the participants to follow along behind picking up bread crumbs in his wake. Genuine people in genuinely horrid predicaments place the fate of their lives in the hands of a system not built to withstand the sheer weight of numbers sliding across the decks of a sinking ship.

Mortifying....

Enlightening...

And a call to learn, to educate not only for myself but for a future I hope to build; a platform of advocacy for women who have suffered at the hands of monsters, of master manipulators.

Though we are set upon, within and without, we will ....

“Never give in — never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

Winston Churchill.

There are many who would argue this point... in my personal case...and say let karma serve justice...you are fighting a losing game...let God deal with the man...

Oh dear hearts... I will leave you this quote for your rumination and to speak for my heart...

'The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is that good men do nothing.' Edmund Burke

This is my stand...I will no longer sit idly by while Evil reigns supreme, I will do everything in my power to bring justice to a man who has escaped it for so many years. Through charm, through wiles and through fear mongering this man has dodged the Law of the courts, beyond a slap on the wrist, as well as the more informal law of angry family members willing to march with pitchforks and torches to slay the beast.

With grace, with dignity and humility... walk out your justice dear ones. Stand and speak your truth for all to hear. Shake the dust off your feet, the shame from around your shoulders and speak... there are those who need to hear you, need to see you stand to gain courage to bring light to their own darkness.

And most importantly...see to your safety and that of your loved ones.

May God bless you and keep you safe, may His face shine upon you and warm the quietest of cold spaces within.
